According to the available images of the pilot, the series was going to have a darker tone. The only existing material are some short fragments and images shown by the creator of the series in a live streaming. The pilot's storyboard is also available on Daniel Johnson's website. On July 20, 2021, new fragments without audio were leaked.

The Owl House is an American animated fantasy television series created by Dana Terrace that premiered on Disney Channel on January 10, 2020.

The pilot of the series was produced during 6 months, from April to September of 2017. The art style and character design are similar to the final series, with a few differences:

  • Luz's hair was going to be black, and her shirt had purple stripes.
  • King had amber fur, a yellow-tipped tail, and violet eyes with red sclerae.
  • Amity was going to have a different hairstyle in the pilot, and the prototype design would go on to inspire the pink-striped girl that appeared in "A Lying Witch and a Warden."

According to the available images of the pilot, the series was going to have a darker tone. The only existing material are some short fragments and images shown by Dana Terrance (The creator of the show) of the series in a live streaming. Some storyboards and animations that were made around the time of the pilot have also surfaced over time, however it's very likely that they weren't meant for the pilot pitch that was sent to Disney themselves. The pilot's storyboard is available on Daniel Johnson's website. On July 20, 2021, new fragments without audio were leaked.

Said to be a test animation produced by animation studio, Sugarcube. It uses the pilot designs of the characters, though King has a blue and red eye color here rather than a violet and red one. This was likely produced around the same time as the pilot but it's not clear what's in this test animation, is also in the pilot it's self.

Two test animations that date back to around 2016 and a storyboard of an unknown scene and it's unclear if these were made around the pilot's time as King's design looks finalized. A bunch of concept art of different characters and some areas are also shown here.

Storyboard of a scene from the pilot, or based off an earlier version of Season 1, Episode 1's script.
