Finalized logo for the film.

Status: Partially Found

Scoob! Holiday Haunt is an unreleased sequel to the 2021 comedy film Scoob!. It was originally set to release on December 22nd, 2022 on HBO Max as an exclusive.[1]

Production

On June 18th, 2021, the director and producer of Scoob! Tony Cervone confirmed that he and the former production crew were working on a sequel for the film. Although the film wasn't announced yet, and no working title was announced either, this was the first mention of the film online.[2]

On December 22nd, 2021, the Twitter for HBO Max released a teaser trailer showcasing highlights of upcoming shows and films for 2022, where the title and a clip of the film could be seen. The tweet was later taken down, but re-uploaded to YouTube.[3]

There was also a synopsis officially posted by HBO Max which goes as follows:

"To celebrate Scooby Doo's first Christmas, 10-year-old Shaggy and the gang take him to a holiday-themed resort owned by Fred's favorite Uncle Ned. When the park is beset by a ghostly haunting, the kids must solve a 40-year-old mystery to save the resort and show Scooby the true meaning of Christmas."

However, on August 2nd, 2022, a spokesperson from Warner Bros. Discovery in an article by The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that both Scoob! Holiday Haunt and Batgirl would be scrapped and cancelled for release. The reason for this would be related to cost-cutting measures.[4]

According to a MovieWeb article, both films cannot be officially released unless the studios hypothetically pay back tax money to the government.[5]

Tony Cervone confirmed its cancellation on Instagram on the same day of the article. 4 days later on August 6th, 2022, he made another Instagram post announcing that although the film was cancelled, the score and music would still be recorded due to the musicians and stage already having been paid for.[6] [7]

On August 21st, 2022, Iain Armitage, who voices young Shaggy in Scoob! and this film, posted on Twitter that he and the production crew and cast were screened the film in private, along with a photo from the screening. This is the only known screening of the film to have happened.[8]

On November 5th, 2022, the film was finished despite its cancellation. When asked about it later by MovieWeb, Tony Cervone and Michael Kurinsky stated that they were determined to finish what they started. Tony on Instagram called it "a bittersweet conclusion" and thanked the production crew.[9]

According to Kurnisky, the film was 95% finished and rendered before they officially finished production.

On February 11th, 2023, the character designer for the film Sandro Cleuzo confirmed the existence of several characters and scenes present in the movie.

On December 15th, 2023, @scoobydooincfp shared two stills from the film featuring the gang and the character that the late Andre Braugher would have voiced. Along with this post, several articles revealed Andre's involvement in the film.[10][11]

On January 1st, 2024, the ScoobySnax blog following the passing of Andre Braugher posted several design renders of the monster villain character, which was revealed to be Krampus.[12]

Cast

Most of the cast is retained from the previous film, where they also play the younger versions of the main characters.

  • Frank Welker as Scooby-Doo
  • Iain Armitage as young Shaggy Rogers
  • Ariana Greenblatt as young Velma Dinkley
  • McKenna Grace as young Daphne Blake
  • Pierce Gagnon as young Fred Jones
  • Mark Hamill as Uncle Ned
  • Andre Braugher as Chef Dave

There are several cast members with unknown characters. It is believed that they play side characters from the holiday-themed resort, but it is not confirmed whom they play.

  • Cristo Fernandez
  • Michael McKean
  • Ming-Na Wen

Availability

The film has never been released outside of the aforementioned private screening. Photos taken by crew members exist, along with a 1-second snippet taken from the trailer of the deleted tweet.

There have been rumors that the film has a planned attempt at a release sometime in 2023 or 2024, but this has not been confirmed as of now.

Outside of this, the rest of the film has not resurfaced and has not been unshelved as of 2023.
