Regarding Unaired Episodes Featuring The Queen

Felicitous Maximus! Good to see another Spitting Image fan on here. Did you get to watch Idiots Assemble at the West End by any chance?

Seeing as you are an expert on this show, I was wondering if you would be interested in tackling this rather odd bit of lost media. In ITV's 2022 annual report (page 196), it detailed exceptional costs relating to the Queen's passing. Something that caught my attention was the following quote:

Following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022, the business has written off remaining Spitting Image episodes featuring the Queen (£9 million) as it is highly unlikely they will ever be screened and are unable to be effectively edited.

Now this has blown my mind for a few reasons... firstly, does the above quote imply a whole series of the reboot Spitting Image was scrapped? Secondly, the revival was cancelled just a month following the Queen's passing. Now, no reports link her death to the show's fate, but it is very curious timing, to say the least. Regardless, what an absolute shame! I don't understand why ITV couldn't have just shown the non-Queen segments on YouTube, but it is what it is. Feel free to give this one a look; if not, I'd be happy to write an article on it if needs be. SpaceManiac888 (talk) 20:04, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

Sorry for the late response, been overly fixated on a Top Gear article recently. I've gathered a few sources on this supposed "missing" revival series of Spitting Image, but will need to dig further. Perhaps it is worth giving its creators an email or two, if possible... SpaceManiac888 (talk) 08:05, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
