Mādādayo (まぁだ~だよ) is a skit by Japanese comedian group The Plan 9 (Tsukasa Suzuki, Ayamu Kyuma, Goe Asagoe) and comedy duo Regular (Akihiro Nishikawa, Kota Matsumoto), performed at the Yoshimoto rise-1 Theater (currently Umeda Kagetsu) in Osaka on September 22 and 23, 2001. The skit was performed by comedians, as mentioned above, but the content was not comedy, but horror, with some cruelty.

Details

The Plan 9 website describes the general story of the skit[1].

2001, Teachers' room after summer vacation Before the opening ceremony, teachers are talking to each other, and the chime of the opening ceremony begins.
At that time...
It was a week before the opening ceremony.

Magician Hoshida, doctor Yukita, detective Tsukita, and Hanada.
Izakaya, reunion, garlic, time capsule, dream and reality.
The four get excited at their first reunion in 18 years.

Then Tsukita's subordinate and a mysterious Chinese man join the six of them.
Each of them has their own past.

So began the "hide-and-seek" of adulthood...

On November 2005, some details about this skit were mentioned in a thread about a scary skit by comedians on the anonymous message board 2ch[2].

When translated, the text reads as follows:

Suzuki as a weak-headed Chinese aspiring to be a magician.
He peels off the head of his twin brother who looks exactly like him, puts it on, and says with a laugh, "I look just like him."
He believes that a doctor can bring even a brother in such a state back to life.
Because he is short, he tries to cut off the legs of a tall magician and attach them to himself. He assumes that because he did it in a magic trick, he will be fine.

Other than that, the word "Kichigai" (meaning "madman" and is considered a discriminatory word in Japan) was in the dialogue of all the performers, and four of the five characters are childhood friends, but they have some kind of grudge against each other (e.g., his dream of being a skier was cut off when his leg was amputated as a prank, he was trying to become a detective but only the guy he took the exam with incidentally got accepted, etc.).

"Mādādayo" is horrific.
Suzuki, too, but I was scared that Kyuma is an hit man. and that he was asked by his childhood friend Asagoe, who became a doctor after his dream of becoming a skier was cut short, to kill him, and in order to complete the job, he killed his wife and child, shot himself, and made Asagoe finish the job.

And the place is the elementary school they graduated from.
In the end, everyone but the Chinese will probably die, but there will be dead bodies of everyone at the elementary school, and I hate to think about what will happen after the new school year starts the next day.

I had a nightmare about a bloody, laughing Chinese man chasing me with a knife...
He was weak-headed and spoke broken language, which made it even scarier.

From the mention from 2ch, it seems that the skit is set up with the Chinese man as the main killer. As for the casting, the magician Hoshida is played by Nishikawa, the doctor Yukida by Asagoe, and the Chinese man by Suzuki. However, the roles of Kyuba and Matsumoto are unknown, and although there are six characters, there are five performers. It is assumed that someone is supposed to play two roles, but it is unclear how this is actually done.

I'm such a person, but I had a friend copy Mādādayo for me today, and I'm afraid I'm too scared to sleep orz.

The user mentions that a friend gave him a copy of the skit, indicating that the footage exists. In addition, in the same thread, the user uploaded footage to the upload site Axfc Networks. However, the deadline was 7pm next day, and it has already been removed[3].

I uploaded Mādādayo out of my will.
It is on ttp://www.axfc.net/uploader/[Extreme++ (800MB~1GB)].
Password is dated today. It may be a very large...
In the meantime, I'll leave it here until 7pm tomorrow.
By the way, the image quality is quite poor. It was poor from the time I had it copied...

On January 28, 2007, a blogger posted an article about obtaining footage of the skit[4]. Two poor quality screenshots were posted, showing the words "The Plan 9" and the title "Mādādayo". It is possible that these screenshots are from footage uploaded to Axfc Network, but there is no confirmation of this. It is unclear in the first place where the source of the copy that the 2ch user says he received from a friend came from, and there is no information that the skit was sold on DVD or in any other format. However, since the two screenshots posted on the blog show text, it is obvious that they were edited, and it is possible that the footage was sold somewhere after the skit performance.

In addition, only the opening sequence of this skit was shown at the Harademy Show, an event organized by Harada Senmonka, a creator of logos for Japanese comedy shows and footages for comedian skits, and was included on a DVD sold at the event[5][6].

Availability

The footage that was once uploaded has disappeared online without being reposted anywhere, and there is no way to view it as of 2024.

Note

In the Japan of hide-and-seek, the searchers call out "Mō Īkai?" (もういいかい?, meaning "Are you ready?") after counting to ten, and those who hide may reply "Mādadayo" (まあだだよ, meaning "Noe yet!") if they are not yet hidden. The title "Mādādayo" is a combination of the words "Mādadayo" and "Murder."
