On May 8, 2018, it was first announced that Adult Swim had ordered a pilot episode for Three Busy Debras.[1] Almost one year later, on May 7, 2019, it was announced that Adult Swim picked up Three Busy Debras as a regular series.[2] The first 6-episode season premiered on March 30, 2020.

According to a listing from the WGAW (Writers Guild of America West) the pilot episode, simply titled "Pilot," is separate from the main series and is not one of the 6 episodes from the first season.
