The Young Girls of Rochefort (French: Les Demoiselles de Rochefort), is a 1967 French musical comedy film directed by Jacques Demy, starring sisters Catherine Deneuve and Françoise Dorléac, with George Chakiris, Grover Dale, Jacques Perrin, Danielle Darrieux, and Gene Kelly. [1] The film is Demy's second musical film, following the success of 1964's The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. While not quite as successful as that film, it was still a hit in its native country, and also garnered an Academy Award nomination for Best Scoring of a Musical Picture. [2]
