The Vanishing Act also known as The Vanishing Act: The Untold Story of the Missing Malaysian Plane is an unfinished English language film from India by director Rupesh Paul. The film revolves around a love triangle on a flight that eventually disappears. The movie was partially inspired by the vanishing of Malaysian Airlines Flight 370. A trailer was for the movie was shown at the 2014 Cannes film festival which was two months after the disappearance of Malaysian Airlines 370. Many festival-goers saw this as a distasteful attempt to capitalize off of recent tragedy and due to the fact, the plane had yet to be found.[1] Director Rupesh Paul tried to remedy the backlash by claiming that The Vanishing Act had nothing to do with the disappearance of Malaysian Airlines flight 370 and even wanted to release the film as early as August or September of 2014. Due to the amount of backlash, the release of the film was pushed back to 2015 but has never been released. As of now, the trailer is the only part of the film to have been released.

When interviewed about the film, the director Rupesh Paul said:

Further interviews stated that the director had never intended to put the trailer online and insisted that the film would still get a release in August or September of 2014.
