彩響DJアニクラゲ (Saikyou DJ Anikurage), initially known as Rizminance, was an arcade rhythm game developed by Konami Amusement as part of the long-running BEMANI series. Intended to succeed the discontinued REFLEC BEAT series, the game was built in part from recycled REFLEC BEAT cabinets and used touch screen-based gameplay.[1]

The game's first location test under the title Rizminance was held from September 28 to 29, 2018 at the Play Space Magical game center in Kobe. The second location test under the title 彩響DJアニクラゲ was held from November 23 to December 3, 2018 at THE 3RD PLANET game center in Kyoto. Photography and video were prohibited at both location tests, and players were supplied with an iPad to complete an online questionnaire after finishing their game session.

The game's soundtrack consisted of "anikura" (anime club music) songs[2] licensed from various anime properties and remixed by internal and commissioned Konami music artists. Following two location tests, 彩響DJアニクラゲ was absent from the list of new titles being demonstrated by Konami at Japan Amusement Expo (JAEPO) 2019 the following month[3] and is assumed to have been quietly cancelled. Its once-exclusive songs were rolled out in the BEMANI games jubeat festo, NOSTALGIA Op.2, SOUND VOLTEX VIVID WAVE and beatmania IIDX 27 HEROIC VERSE from March to August 2019. No photos of the game's cabinet outside of the promotional posters are known to exist, and no gameplay footage is available.

Gameplay

The game was played with eight keys on an LED panel below the game's screen and two crossfader switches. It featured four note types:

  • "Signal" notes require a single key press to clear.
  • "Long signal" notes must be held for the length of the note and released.
  • "Bound signal" notes jump to a different position when initially pressed and must be pressed again at the position they jump to.
  • "Fader signal" notes do not use the touch screen; instead the player must slide the crossfader switches along the path the note follows.

Player performance was graded from C to S based on score, which maxed out at 120%. Note timings included "BAD", "GOOD", "GREAT", and "LIGHTNING", with LIGHTNING further divided into a "MAX STRIKE" (presumably frame-perfect) timing. Further detailed information about the game's scoring system is not available.
