Remember, this occurred back in 1897 when lynchings were sadly extremely common, and the film industry loved exploiting this. Capitalising on the success of Edison's Lynching Scene, IFC claimed this was a legitimate piece. There is a tiny chance it might be considering Paris, Texas' reputation back then. Certainly a work from America's horrible side of history....
