LOONA (Korean: 이달의 소녀) are an idol pop group based in South Korea, founded by Jaden Jeong and Blockberry Creative. The group developed a large international fanbase with their pre-debut project, where all twelve members released their own solo albums from 2016 to 2018. The members made their official debut as one group in 2018. Also in 2018, the concept of an album made up entirely of Korean ballads was teased, which fans would refer to as Loona the Ballad or La Maison.

Teaser

On May 31st, 2019, a teaser for the album La Maison was uploaded on the official LOONA Youtube channel, and was posted on their social media accounts, as well. The video featured brief teasers for three songs- Daydream/Crystal Ballad, Hyper Ballad, and Bliss Ballad. The video ends with an image of the twelve members standing in a circle, with the words "La Maison LOONA" overlaying them. Below this, the words read "'Delayed but Someday," implying that while the album is not ready for release now, it will be released in the near future.

Jaden Jeong's Deletion

Jaden Jeong, the creative director of LOONA and a key member in the group's formation, parted ways with the group in 2019 due to creative differences between him and Blockberry Creative. Upon his departure, Jeong posted on his blog,

"A certain album, that I had completed, I just deleted it. Ballads and lyrics that did not come out to the world…."[1]

This led many fans to believe that the album that was deleted was La Maison. On November 1st, 2019, Jeong participated in an interview with MTV. In the interview, he states:

"I felt very empty when I couldn't proceed further with LOONA."[2]

This seemed to have confirmed the album's deletion and it might never be released.

Possible Resurrection

On March 31, 2023, in an interview with NME[3], Jaden Jeong revealed he was "quite open to th[e] matter" of possibly reviving La Maison. He stated he had "never gave this particular content to anyone else and planned to keep it as a personal item for life," and that he "plan[s] on releasing it at the right time". Jaden Jeong's interview implied a possible resurrection and release of the project.
