For the release of ''Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie'' in 2002, Big Idea created various pieces of tie-in merchandise to promote the film. These included toys, games, t-shirts and books. One of these books, slated to be released on February 1, 2003 by Zondervan's kids' division ZonderKidz, was titled Khalil and the Big Gulp. Focusing on the Khalil character from the movie, the book told the story of the film from Khalil's point of view, and was told entirely in rhyme. However, unlike most of the ''Jonah'' tie-in books, this one's release wound up being cancelled.

For the release of Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie in 2002, Big Idea created various pieces of tie-in merchandise to promote the film. These included toys, games, T-shirts and books. One of these books, slated to be released on February 1st, 2003 by Zondervan's kids' division, ZonderKidz, was titled "Khalil and the Big Gulp". Focusing on the Khalil character from the movie, the book told the story of the film from Khalil's point of view and was told entirely in rhyme. However, unlike most of the Jonah tie-in books, this one's release wound up being canceled.

Summary

A story told by a worm that traveled with Jonah in the belly of a whale -- for ages 4 and under. Little children ages 4 and under will love Khalil -- a worm from Big Idea's Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie. Khalil will make children laugh as he tells about the water-logged prophet who was eaten by a whale.

Each page of this humorous worm-shaped board book has a fun rhyme to introduce tots to the story of Jonah and how God gave him a second chance. [1]

Availability

Two articles in Publishers Weekly mention the book as being an upcoming release. [2] [3]. In addition, a promotional guidebook for the home video release of Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie mentions the book by name. [4] An archived version of the Zonderkidz website from around the time of the book's release does not list it in the Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie section, confirming the book's cancellation. [5]
