Incident

At "Pinoy Henyo" segment headed by Allan K., Julia Clarete enters the glass tank and then the soap powdered bubbles are filled inside of it. The question is to guess what word is given to the audience, which is "tipaklong" (Eng. 'grasshopper'). Clarete begins to complain of shortness of breath, but Allan K. initially jokes that Clarete did not take the bath. At 0:48 mark, Clarete becomes unresponsive and loses consciousness. At this point, the hosts and the crew help Clarete get her up while Allan K. criticizes himself for his neglect before the show goes on to the commercial break.[1]

It was later revealed that Clarete has an anxiety attack which causes her to faint, and Eat Bulaga learned that she has claustrophobia.[2]

Clarete's fainting incident was not the only time happened on the show. Another studio contestant fainted on April 28, 2010, birthday of host Vic Sotto,[3] and Maine Mendoza fainted on August 9, 2015 during the "Kalye Serye" segment.[4]

Availability

The live footage of a fainting incident was aired in 2005 on GMA Network. However, the footage is partially found. The first partial video was uploaded on July 2, 2009 by YouTube user aiza044 and it was the only known video over the years. "Pinoy Henyo" segment usually lasted for two minutes for every contestant, and the start of the partial footage recorded at the remaining timeframe of 1:18. A YouTube user Kapatid Archives upload a second partial footage of the incident on January 14, 2024.[5]
