Fushigi na Anoko wa Suteki na Konoko (partially found anime short series; 1994)
Fushigi na Anoko wa Suteki na Konoko (ふしぎなあのこはすてきなこのこ lit. This Mysterious Kid is a Wonderful Kid) is an animated short series that ran on NHK as part of the children's program Okā-san to Issho (おかあさんといっしょ). It was created by It made its debut on the program in May 1994, running until April 1997. However, it was temporarily brought back in reruns from March 30, 2010 to March 22, 2011. The series' corresponding music video first premiered on the program in May 1994, a month after the series itself did, with multiple different recordings existing of it. Said music video was later brought back on August 15, 2019 as part of Okā-san to Issho's 60th anniversary special.[1]
The series involves seven animal characters named Gappo (crocodile), Mū (hippopotamus), Shippī (mouse), Ikkaku (rhinoceros), Cappy (cat), Pokopī (penguin), and Gaōne (lion). Each episode focuses on one of these seven characters and their conflicts with one or multiple others. Sometimes, though, their conflict involves a certain object instead of a character. These conflicts usually either end up getting resolved in some form or going wrong in the end.
Availability
The series has had two VHS releases, with the first one titled "みんな ともだち" (Min'na Tomodachi, lit. Everyone's a Friend) and the second one titled "なかよし げんき" (Nakayoshi Genki, lit. Good Friends, Good Health). Despite this, only six episodes (four of which were ripped from "みんな ともだち" and one of which was ripped from "なかよし げんき", and one of which was taken from a 1995 episode of Okā-san to Issho) as well as a music video featuring the characters have surfaced on the internet in video form, with screenshots of two others surfacing as well. As of now, the episodes that have surfaced in screenshot form have not been identified yet due to a lack of sufficient evidence describing the plots going on within them, as the people who took them did not provide any.
