The exact publication and release information regarding the 2 versions of Science Fiction 2 is fuzzy at best. But, the timing of the publication and subsequent release might actually be why there was a revision in the first place. One website claims they were both published in January of 1978 (perhaps in concept) and released sometime in 1979 (when the revision probably became necessary as certain facts became available). It would seem that the difference in the choice of question #26 may have been the biggest difference, and quite possibly the likely reason for need of the revesion. This revision may have had something to do with the fact that Star Wars was released in May 1977, and Superman was released in December 1978. Superman was JUST hitting theaters when this particular program (Science Fiction II) was approaching the release phase. The people at Mego were probably putting together the best information they had at the time for the questions so that it would be "current" when it was due to be released. Earlier on in 1978, even a year after being released, Star Wars was STILL in the process of DEFINING the term "BLOCKBUSTER" because the lines at the theater were going around the block several times. So, in retrospect, asking about Star Wars from strictly a “cost perspective” might seem like a bit of a trick question. As more information became available concerning the scale of the cost of making Superman, they probably decided to emphasize that aspect within the question later on without even bringing up Star Wars; hence the likely reason for the revision. Revising that question to make it strictly a true/false question about Superman being “the most expensive movie ever made” would probably seem to make more sense instead of even bringing up Star Wars in the first place (which might only bring confusion because EVERYBODY WAS STILL TALKING ABOUT STAR WARS LIKE IT WAS THE GREATEST THING SINCE SLICE BREAD!!!! WHO CARES HOW MUCH IT COST!!!!!!!). They didn't know if Superman was going to be as "big" as Star Wars because it hadn't really played out in the theaters yet. So, the Star Wars version of the question is probably the original Version 1 (shown on this page as Rev B), and the Superman version of the question is likely the Revision (shown on this page as Rev A). I realize on this page, Rev A  & B are merely placeholders. They should probably be changed to “Version A” & “Version B” and then swapped to make them chronologically accurate. Other changes in the questions between the 2 programs were nominal, inconsequential, and were probably done as an afterthought. Buck Rogers for instance was just hitting theaters in March of 1979 and ended up becoming a popular TV series several months later in September. The changes in Buck Rogers questions seem more about keeping things interesting than to actually correct anything, unlike Question #26.{{DISPLAYTITLE:
