Status: Lost

On May 12, 2000, Adam Petty was driving during a practice session for the Busch 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. While going into the third turn, Petty's throttle stuck and his car hit near head on into the concrete wall at nearly 200m/h. He was killed instantly when hitting the wall. He died from a basilar skull fracture at the age of 19. Only 8 weeks later, driver Kenny Wallace Jr. died at the same corner, forcing NASCAR to add a number of safety features, such as a kill switch.[1]

Availability

It remains unknown if the wreck was ever filmed. Unlike today, practice sessions weren't always broadcasted on TV, and this one wasn't. There does exist footage online of the aftermath f the wreck, showing the damage on Petty's car, as well as on the wall that Petty hit. It's likely that we'll never see the wreck. [2]
