A promotional still of "Grumpy Cat" and actress Aubrey Plaza

Status: Partially Found

Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever is a Lifetime original movie, made for TV and originally released on November 29, 2014. The film, which centered around the titular cat, has a very meta sense of humor, referencing the animal's celebrity status and merchandising, as well as featuring a scene of Aubrey Plaza, the real life actress who voiced Grumpy for the film.

In addition to traditional trailers for the film, a series of ad spots were produced with both Grumpy Cat and Aubrey Plaza with the intention of creating buzz online. Like the movie, these ad spots were often Christmas-themed, with one portraying the pair sharing hot chocolate together and another showing Plaza playing "Jingle Bells" on the piano. Most of these ad spots were fairly simplistic, featuring the same set and costumes - with the notable exception of one ad which took place in a large nativity scene and portrayed Plaza as the Virgin Mary and Grumpy as a baby Jesus, who Plaza dubbed "the Meowsiah."

At the time of Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever, Plaza was already well-known for her role as April in Parks & Recreation, leading some to make GIFs and share still images of the ad spots. [1][2] The ad spots were also shared to some news sites, including celebrity gossip site AceShowBiz. Unfortunately, the versions of the videos in these articles have since been privated. [3]
