Griffith) decided to film a movie about the Mexican Revolution, with Francisco Villa receiving 25,000$ in advance and 50% of the movie's earnings. It would be a film of epic proportions, about one of Mexico's biggest figures, which was a good thing. The movie was eventually filmed, but the contract was soon cancelled because of the relationship between the USA and Francisco Villa deteriorating.
