The Simpsons Game is a 2007 platform game developed by EA Redwood Shores and released by Electronic Arts for various platforms. A sequel entitled The Simpsons Game 2 was known to have been in development, before being cancelled in 2011.
Background
Little is known about the sequel's development. Evidence that a Simpsons game was in development came from the LinkedIn pages of then-EA employee Gerry Sakkas, and freelancer Matt Spriggens. Having been defined as "Simpsons 2 prototype" on Spriggens' page, various publications interpreted this as meaning The Simpsons Game 2 was in development.[1]
The LinkedIn pages also confirmed that development for this Simpsons title was scrapped in favour of other projects.[2] Its cancellation was announced around the same time as the cancellation of a Wii port of Dead Space 2.[3] The reasoning behind why Electronic Arts prioritized other projects over The Simpsons Game 2 remains unknown.
Availability
Considering Spiggens' LinkedIn page once listed design work for a "Simpsons 2 prototype", a build likely exists for the game. Ultimately, as of the present day no builds, screenshots or footage of the sequel have surfaced online.
