The Pom Pom EP is a deleted Extended Play (EP) released by the British band Dream Wife. The EP was released digitally in 2014 and deleted from streaming and other sites in 2015.

Background

Dream Wife is an indie rock and a "riot grrrl" band formed in 2014 in Brighton and featuring Rakel Mjöll on vocals, Alice Gough on guitar, and Isabella Podpadec on bass guitar.

As of 2024, the band has released three studio albums. Before the release of their debut album Dream Wife in 2018, the band released two EPs. One of these, 2016's EP01, is still canon and now widely cited as their debut EP, however, prior to this the band release, an EP in April 2014 called The Pom Pom EP was uploaded by the band as well.

The Pom Pom EP, according to a listing on RateYourMusic, featured four tracks: "Be With Me", "Surf", "Chemistry" and "Believe". It was released on April 9th, 2014. It received a mention on a blog about Icelandic music (lead singer Rakel Mjöll is of Icelandic descent) in May 2014, confirming the April date and that it was released.

According to Wayback Machine, The Pom Pom EP was available at release on Bandcamp. It is unclear if it was released on streaming services. By November 2014 it had been retitled The POM POM Demos and by 2015 it was no longer listed on Bandcamp.

According to a ghost Spotify listing, the song "Believe" was later released as a single in 2015. It is unclear whether this was the same recording or a new version of the song. This single has also been deleted.

Status

The Pom Pom EP, later The POM POM Demos', was deleted from Dream Wife's Bandcamp in 2015 and has not been released again since. The single "Believe", which may have been the same recording or an updated version, was deleted in either 2015 or 2016 and has also not been released.

Dream Wife are a famous band now but were obscure when the EP was listed on Bandcamp. Only seven anonymous listeners are listed on Last.fm for The Pom Pom EP and three anonymous listeners on Last.fm for The POM POM Demos. As a result, the release hasn't been archived in other ways, or posted to YouTube.

Given that the band quickly retitled the EP as a set of demos, it is likely that either the quality of the recordings or the songs is low, and that the band do not want to reissue it. As a result, an official release is unlikely. As the EP was available as a free download, it is possible that someone may still have a copy.
