Marvel Ultimate Alliance is a 2006 video game released by Activision. Prior to its release, Activision held a contest where the winners got to voice minor characters in the game, Bruce Banner and Jean Grey. One of the contest winners was Arin Hanson (aka Egoraptor), known for his popular Awesome series on Newgrounds and later the Let's Play series Game Grumps.[1] While Hanson's was chosen to voice Bruce Banner in the game, voice actor Robin Atkin Downes ended up voicing him in the final cut.

Version Confusion

While his voice wasn't used for some versions of the game, Hanson's voice was allegedly used for the Wii, PlayStation 3, and PSP versions.[2][3][4] However, no finished versions of the game include these voice recordings.

Reason for Cancellation

In Loseratfinding's correspondence with Hanson via email, he learned that he recorded his voice after Activision informed him that it would be used in select versions of the game. Since this was also a local contest, Activision assumed that all the auditions were coming from LA and in the surrounding areas. Hanson got a "congratulations" email and was invited to LA. However, he was unavailable and his recording came in too late during the production cycle to be used.

So, Arin's recordings were intended to be used and released for the Wii, PS3, and PSP versions of the game, but due to time constraints, Activision used another voice actor for the role. Therefore, it's possible that these recordings will never be released, and it's likely that they could only be in Hanson's possession at this point.

Recovery

The version with Arin Hanson's vocal performance ended up in a version for the Steam release. The voice clips can be heard here:
