U.F.O. ABDUCTION (aka The McPherson Tape) is a 1989 found-footage mockumentary written and directed by Dean Alioto. The film was made on a budget of $6,000, and the plot involves a family being invaded by aliens on the evening of a birthday party, and the subsequent events that occur.[1] It is often confused with Alien Abduction: Incident in Lake County, a 1998 remake of the said film.

Availability

While the remake has always been widely available, the original film wasn't. In fact, the movie was notoriously rare and had a lot of mystery surrounding it. For years, the film sparked rumors amongst UFO enthusiasts (who saw a leaked copy at a party) that it was a recording of an actual extraterrestrial event, although this is simply untrue, with the United States Film Board even going as far as to publicly confirm that the film is fake in July 2012 to dispel any possibility that it was real.

In a 2003 interview with Alioto, he stated that one could email him to purchase a copy of the film, but this offer seems to be void as he no longer replies to emails related to the purchase of the film.

Finally, on July 1st, 2013, Cinemageddon user "pokes" got a copy of the film and uploaded it online, and said upload has since been mirrored on various sites.

As of February 2018, the film can be purchased in its digitally remastered form, on both DVD and digital, via its official website.
