Gamer Girl is a game of mystery and suspense written and directed by Allan Plenderleith. Announce in 2020, the game commits to the narrative technique of full-motion video in place of classic game mechanics[1], a mechanic better exemplified by some notorious CD-ROM games such as Night Trap, Phantasmagoria or the Black Mirror film Bandersnatch, whereas the game is played as a interactive movie with multiple choice for the plot's outcome.

The game would be published by Wales Interactive, the game developer studio recognized for revitalizing this genre with claims like Bunker and Late Shift.[2]

Premise

In the game, you take on the role of chat moderator for up and coming streamer ‘Abicake99’, the protagonist of the story, who’s back online after the mysterious disappearance of her friend Becky.

Offering a multi-branched storytelling and real-time chat simulation for you to clean up, increase your mod powers, manage Abi’s career choices and deals with the menace she faces from the unknown predator hiding in the stream’s chat.[3]

Availability

GamerGirl was poorly received when it was announced online,[4] despite the last mention of the game by the studio being about the game being made to raise awareness about the effects of online toxicity can cause to a streamer's mental wellness, Wales Interactive silently removed most of the promotional material around the game on social media where it was advertised[5]. The game's official page on the Wales Interactive site is currently 404'd.[6]

No playable versions of any kind seem to exist anywhere, and it's unknown if assets are still being held by the developers.
