Time: the 4th Dimension is a 2012 movie, starring Christopher Lloyd and Deep Roy, directed by Jean-Jacques Mantello and Richard Gabai, and distributed by 3D Entertainment Distribution. The movie would explore Lloyd and Roy in a scientific journey as they explore through time, but was cancelled at sometime in 2012.
Recovering
In 2020, the user "u/teeno731" made a post on the Lost Media subreddit saying[1]:
"A movie starring Deep Roy and Christopher Lloyd that was just... never released? I can't find a thing on this movie"
The post includes a photo of a standee of the movie, taken from the movie's IMDB page[2], but with no origin attached to the image. The user "u/bite84" replied, showing that if you type "timethe4thdimension.com", you would be redirected to the 3D Entertainment Distribution website[3], there we found a press release from another movie called "Air Racers 3D”, that mentions "Time: the 4th Dimension" in the upcoming projects[4], and a announcement for the movie made in September 24, 2010[5], that includes new informations about the movie:
""Time, the Fourth Dimension" tells the story of an eccentric professor, played by Lloyd ("Back to the Future", “Adams Family”, "Call of the Wild 3D", "Piranha 3D"), and his lab assistant as they explore and explain the various dimensions that make up our world while focusing on the extraordinary and misunderstood fourth dimension: space-time."
Bite84 also found a survey from 3D Entertainment Distribution, including another synopsis from the film[6]:
"TIME: THE 4TH DIMENSION – Join Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future) and Deep Roy (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) on a scientific journey as they explore the history of time, time relativity, space-time, and even what time travel might be in the future through breathtaking computer graphics and stunning time-lapse images. Learn all about this fascinating phenomenon that scientists and philosophers have struggled to define for millennia."
"u/areoformer" posted a comment saying that the movie was filmed around 2013, and not 2011/2012, the comment includes a link[7], but the page was deleted, so we can't take his comment in consideration. But he also found a forum from February 28, 2014, that a guy named David Waelder claimed to worked on "Time: the 4th Dimension", in the sound production area[8]:
"I can't speak to "most" IMAX films. I worked two IMAX projects in recent years and I don't recall any discussion of sample rates or specifications at all. I may have said something along the lines of "I'll be supplying the audio as BWF files at 24-bit and 48 kHz. Is that OK?" Or some variation on that theme. They were OK with that."
A couple of articles mentioning the film were found, from big websites like Collider[9], Cision[10] and Fame Magazine[11], the only new information found in those articles, was that the film was set to have 45 minutes. The first big found was a post made in the Ricky and Morty subreddit, made by "u/deftspyder"[12]:
"Funny to see Christopher Lloyd, who was of course Doc Brown, with Rick Sanchez hair, who is a play off Doc Brown."
The post includes a Behind the Scenes photo from "Time: the 4th Dimension", and when questioned how he got the photo, he replied with:
"A director friend of mine posted this BTS from a project that didn't come to light."
The photo was posted in a compilation on the Instagram from the director Richard Gabai, on 10 September 2020, one of then areadly been posted on his Facebook, on October 21, 2015 (BTTF DAY).
People saw that the "3D Entertainment Distribution" website was not updated since 2014, and was made using WIX. The company wasn't a scam, because DVD from their projects were really sold, like "Air Racers 3D”[13], which was later posted online[14]. And that all numbers and emails available in the website, were not avaiable any more.
