The World's Biggest Treasure Hunt was a 2007 web game and promotional contest launched alongside Walt Disney Pictures' National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets, and presented by Mercedes-Benz. The webpage was once hosted on http://www.nationaltreasure.com, but now just redirects to the "Movies" page on the offical Disney website.
In the game, players were "able to drive the Mercedes C-Class in car chases and scavenger hunts or use its Mercedes-branded navigation system to play a puzzle game in virtual replicas of London and New York," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The promotion featured a partnership with Odyssey Marine Exploration, where players could pilot its Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) Zues, to find lost treasure aboard the Confederate vessel, the USS Republic.
Real treasure excavated from the Civil War-era ship were promised to contest winners, with the grand prize winner receiving a 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class filled with the treasure of the USS Republic. The game is now no longer available to the public, and is currently unplayable.
