The Upside Down Show was a live-action series produced by Blink Films and Sesame Workshop. It starred the Australian comedy duo known as "The Umbilical Brothers", Shane Dundas and David Collins. Made for the Noggin channel, the show was created to appeal to both children and their parents with its surrealist humor.

The show was short-lived, with only one season of 13 episodes. Although Noggin was not interested in renewing the series for a second season, a finale TV movie, known as The Upside Down Movie, was scripted.

The movie was first announced in an article by the newspaper The Australian in August 2008. In November 2008, David Collins announced in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald that the movie was planned to start filming in 2009. Collins started an online petition in 2010 to show public interest in the movie, but it never gained enough support and the project has been in limbo ever since.

Production

After the show wasn't picked up for a second season, The Umbilical Brothers began working on the finale movie in 2008. They announced that the script had started development on their Facebook page.^[1]

Although Nickelodeon Australia was able to provide funding for the script, they still needed more funding for the movie itself, which never ended up happening. In 2010, David Collins posted on Facebook that "the gears have been turning and the script has been tweaked (and is, needless to say, VERY funny) the never ending search for investors to get The Upside Down Movie off the ground continues."^[2]

Availability

After over a decade, the movie still hasn't been made, although the duo has been reported to still be interested in making it as late as 2017.^[3] It doesn't seem like this will happen, however, and as of now the finished script still remains in the dark.
