Background

The Bottle is a lost One-Shot created by Hirohiko Araki who written and illustrated it in 1978, He would later go on to create JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and other Manga's of sorts with JoJo being the most famous. The One-Shot was mentioned in the 1978 # 1 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump as a final candidate for the 14th Tezuka Award. However due to it not winning it was never serialized and is considered Lost Media. Before Araki became a manga legend thanks to Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, His first job as a mangaka was the one-shot titled The Bottle in which he featured a character dressed in old western-style outfits and still crude character design at the time. The work done was done to compete for the 14th Tezuka Award in 1978, however, as it did not win the award, its content was never shown to the public.

In the words of Hiroshi Motomiya, judge of the contest at the time:

"No one is capable of being a freelance manga artist unless they have a story with originality. Of these, I'm interested in seeing an original story by the artist from 'The Bottle.' Considering his age, it's safe to say that this artist he's a very smart and promising newcomer. "

Its possible the story could have been about cowboys, as araki has made several oneshots and characters that are cowboy related or literally cowboys themselves, However the story, the characters, and overall the premise of the story is unknown, it's possible Araki has the one-shot himself or the people who held the contest has it, however the status of the one-shot is unknown and its possible that it could be lost forever.

Availability

Due to Araki losing in the finals, no prints or premise of the story exist other then the only one-shot that is left, whoever has ownership of it now is unknown, and due to araki having no possible way of contacting him on social media it's possible that The Bottle could be lost forever.
