Sonic 3D Blast was an isometric pseudo-3D platformer developed by Traveller's Tales to be Sonic's first step into 3D along with Sonic X-treme to rival the Nintendo 64's Super Mario 64. It received a Sega Genesis, a Saturn release, and a Game Gear spinoff similarly named Sonic Blast. The game received mixed opinions from critics and fans alike, and in short, was considered a failed attempt at bringing the blue blur to 3D.

Background

During the development of Sonic 3D Blast, Jun Senoue composed the soundtrack in a similar fashion to Masato Nakamura's Sonic 1 and 2 demo tracks MIDI devices to compose the music. The tape in Jon's possession contains the tracks for Jon's approval before being implemented in Sonic 3D Blast.

Availability

On October 22th, 2019, the first 5 tracks from the demo were posted by Jon Burton, founder Of Traveller's Tales and TT Games, for archival purposes. On February 12th, 2020, the last track was uploaded and thus rendered the cassette demo as found.
