Seiko Wallet

Status: Lost

Seiko Wallet is a Filipino wallet brand. It is known for its slogan "Ang Wallet na Masuwerte" and an iconic low-budget commercial aired in the late 80s to the early 90s.

Premise

Eyewitnesses described the ad as low-budget and the commercial just shows a montage of wallets with no voiceover or end tags.[1] However, there is a jingle throughout the commercial:

Seiko, Seiko Wallet
Ang wallet na masuwerte
Balat nito ay genuine
International pa ang mga design

Ang wallet na masuwerte
Seiko, Seiko Wallet
Seiko, Seiko Wallet![2]

The commercial ended with a voice saying, "Seiko Wallet, Ang Wallet na Masuwerte." One eyewitness said that the one who sang the jingle was Victor Wood, however there is nothing to validate the claim.[3]

Availability

According to eyewitnesses, the ad was aired in the late 80s to the early 90s, on IBC-13 during Magic Kamison, Pinoy Thriller, and along with KFC & Durastar ads during The Top Ten Best Movie Trailers of the Week in the timeframe of 1994-1995.[4]

The jingle of the commercial was featured in GMA News TV (now GTV)'s show Ang Pinaka which listed it as one of the top memorable jingles in the Philippines, along with Sunny Orange and other commercials. Like Sunny Orange, mentions and small search efforts were frequent since the 2000s, especially on the PinoyExchange forums. However, the commercial is yet to be found.
