Rick and Morty is an animated adult sitcom by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, currently airing on the Cartoon Network programming block Adult Swim.

Backstory

Sometime after Rick and Morty premiered, Justin Roiland was asked by the fast food chain Subway to make a series of commercials featuring the titular characters, Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith. The commercials featured Rick and Morty exclaiming that they were “the New Jared”, and promoting the product afterwards. "The New Jared" refers to Jared Fogle, Subway’s main spokesperson at the time. However, shortly before the commercials were set to premiere, Subway cut ties with Jared Fogle due to his arrest on July 7, 2015. Due to the fact that the main subject of the commercials was Jared Fogle, they were cancelled. There were 4 commercials made before Jared's arrest.
