Monster Allergy was an animated adaptation of an Italian comic book series by the same name, created and distributed by Disney's in-house comics publishers. (In fact, the same comics house that created W.I.T.C.H.) The show ran for a total of 52 episodes across two seasons. The Italian media conglomerate Rainbow SRL/S.P.A.[1] were responsible for its creation and its overseas distribution, and Iginio Straffi (best known for his creation and direction of Winx Club) served as animation director over the two seasons.

The protagonist, Zick Barrymore, is a boy with multiple allergies who discovers his ability to see the invisible monsters that live amongst humanity. Together with his friend Elena, they seek to learn more about the secret world of monsters, and even catch and tame some of them.

Airing from 2005 onwards in various international markets, the show ran into a few issues with its English localisation. Its first English dub was produced by Warner Bros.,[2] who announced that they had picked it up for their Saturday morning[3] Kids WB programming block on The CW channel in 2005. (Although it only started airing in late 2006.) The show was also seen in the US on Cartoon Network.[4] With the cancellation of the Kids WB programming block in 2007,[5] however, a new dub was commissioned.

The Kids WB dub has become exceedingly rare, as it was eventually replaced by the new English dub produced by Rainbow S.P.A. and used in all international English-speaking markets since; the show is available on Netflix services in many different countries, all of which use the Rainbow S.P.A. dub instead of the Kids WB dub. As well as Netflix, the Rainbow dub is also available (as ripped episodes) in its entirety on YouTube, and was syndicated on Disney Channel Asia as recently as 2009.[6]

An episode of the show is available on Monster Allergy's official English website,[7] but it is (most likely) the Rainbow dub. The Movie Database[8] has information on the cast of the Kids' WB dub.
