Below is a transcript of the above letter:

Witch
Feb. 19, 1976
Dear Sir or Madam,
My 2 1/2 year old daughter and I have recently become viewers of Sesame Street. We thoroughly enjoy some portions of the program (e.g. Ernie and Bert, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, lessons on counting and the alphabet and certain elementary word relationships). There are, however, certain portions that are not appropriate subject matter for your preschool and school age audience. For example, the witch that visits your program truly frightens my daughter. This particular character has been criticized by three fellow parents.
Changing nursery rhymes is very upsetting to our children because they jeporadize [sic] the sense of security (or constancy) our children derive from them. I feel this is done to amuse adults; children don't even understand but only feel frustrated.
