Status: Partially Found

Our Little Genius was an unaired game show hosted by Kevin Pollak. The show was created by Mark Burnett and was intended to air on Fox on January 13, 2010. The show consisted of child prodigies attempting to win money for their families by answering trivia questions. Before the show could air, questions were raised as to whether or not the show was rigged, prompting an investigation by the F.C.C. and leading to the show's cancellation.

Format

In Our Little Genius kids were given ten questions to answer. Each question had a higher amount of money. The kids were given two assists: If used one would let an adult see the question in order to help the child contestant out, while the other one would let a panel of experts see the question and offer advice on how to answer it. At any point in the show, the parents of the contestant could stop the contestant from answering any further questions and they would be able to keep the money they had already won.[1]

Cancellation

A week before the show was scheduled to air, Mark Burnett told Fox to postpone the show due to issues about its integrity.[2] Soon, there were allegations saying that the show was rigged because a member of the production team gave a contestant and their parent's specific answers to four questions. Due to this, the show was pulled before it was supposed to air, with an episode of American Idol (extended to 90 minutes) and a rebroadcast of The Simpsons' 450th episode, "Once Upon a Time in Springfield," airing to fill the program's intended time slot. A rebroadcast of the Fox series Human Target served as the show's replacement for its intended Tuesday time slot on January 19. [3]

An investigation into the program and its producers was launched in February of 2010 by the Federal Communications Commission to see if the allegations were true.[4]

Availability

Due to reasons regarding the program's cancellation, it's unlikely that any episodes of Our Little Genius will be released. As of the writing of this article, only a promotional TV ad for the show has surfaced online.
