Status: Partially Lost

Megan Wants a Millionaire was a reality TV show that aired on VH1 from August 2nd until August 16th of 2009. The show revolved around seventeen men who had to compete in order to win the love of swimsuit model Megan Hauserman. The show was plagued with controversies from the start due to Megan Hauserman becoming the trophy wife of whoever won the show. Already hit with low ratings, the final blow to Megan Wants a Millionaire came when contestant Ryan Jenkins murdered his wife Jasmine Fiore on August 15th, 2009. The show was quickly pulled out of respect for the family of Jasmine Fiore, having only aired three episodes. While the three episodes of Megan Wants a Millionaire were aired, and episodes 4 and 5 were uploaded to YouTube, episode 6 has yet to surface.

Plot

Megan wants a Millionaire revolves around seventeen single suiter millionaires as they are put to the test in order to win over Megan. Each episode has the men take Megan out on increasingly expensive dates. With the help of her friends, contestants are eliminated based on their performance. The last man left gets to keep Megan as their trophy wife.[1] Throughout the show, Megan would bring celebrity guests to help pick which contestants stayed and who would be eliminated.

On August 19th, 2009, VH1 put Megan Wants a Millionaire on indefinite hiatus out of respect for the Fiore family. VH1 also released an official statement:

Ryan Jenkins was a contestant on Megan Wants A Millionaire, an outside production, produced and owned by 51 Minds, that is licensed to VH1. The show completed production at the end of March. Given the unfortunate circumstances, VH1 has postponed any future airings. This is a tragic situation, and our thoughts go out to the victim’s family.[4]

VH1 would officially cancel Megan Wants a Millionaire on August 22nd, 2009, along with the third season of I Love Money due to Ryan Jenkins being in that season.[5] On August 23rd, 2009, exactly one day after Megan Wants a Millionaire was cancelled, Ryan Jenkins was found dead in a motel in Hope, British Columbia, Canada after he committed suicide via hanging.[6]

Availability

With only three episodes of six confirmed episodes of Megan Wants a Millionaire having aired prior to Ryan Jenkins being named a person of interest in the murder of his wife, all episodes intended to air after that point are not available online. The three broadcast episodes of the show were also considered lost for many years, with brief clips seen in news reports and other such content being all that was available. On January 4th, 2020, said episodes were uploaded to Google Drive by user Delbert lanier.

On February 9th, 2020, the hostess of the show Megan Hauserman uploaded episodes 4 and 5 of the unaired episodes to her YouTube channel.

The remaining final unaired episode has still not been recovered as of this writing.
