Not The Same (also known as Black Bruce Wayne) is an unreleased Kanye West song that was worked on during the sessions for Kanye's albums My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Watch The Throne. The song was produced by Honorable C.N.O.T.E. and features the singer Shire doing the hook. The song was later given to the rapper Pizzle but still remains unreleased.[1]

Initial Leak

A snippet of the song was leaked in 2014 and was thought to be for Kanye's then-upcoming album Yeezus 2 which evolved into The Life of Pablo. The snippet featured Kanye rapping about his wealth ("Father is the black Bruce Wayne, only shorty (child) in preschool rockin' two chains".[2] Several snippets were leaked in 2014, varying in length from 20 seconds to 1 minute; however, they cannot be arranged to form a full song.

These snippets could be found on YouTube along with compilation albums created by fans to bridge the gap between his official albums, such as those on the forum KanyeToThe.[3] The snippets were eventually thought to be fake due to Kanye West's producer, Mike Dean, claiming that they would never make something so bad production wise in a KanyeToThe thread.[4] It was originally thought that the beat to the song was fake, while the vocals were real and were taken from an unreleased song that Kanye recorded for the group LEP Boguz Boyz on their mixtape "Don't Feed Da Killaz 4." However, this turned out to be false and Kanye instead did a different song completely unrelated to Not The Same with the group since the group claims the song that Kanye did for them had him doing the hook and producing it, and Kanye does not do either on Not The Same.[5]

Availability

On July 6th, 2023, the song, along with two other versions of it, leaked in full on YZY CORD, a Discord server dedicated to Kanye West leaks.
