101 Dalmatians is a live-action remake of the 1961 animated film of the same name released on November 27th, 1996, by Walt Disney Pictures. It was directed by Stephen Herek and co-produced by John Hughes and Ricardo Mestres. It also starred Glenn Close as the main villain, Cruella DeVil.

Teaser Trailer

Around late 1995/early 1996, Disney started promoting the film with a teaser trailer that started out with famous landmarks painted white with black spots(representing the colors of a dalmatian), including the Sydney Opera House, the Stonehenge, and the Arc de Triomphe. Eventually, it then shows the entire Earth painted white with black spots. It then cuts to the 101 logo (without the word DALMATIANS) on a white background. Afterwards, the tagline THIS TIME, THE MAGIC IS REAL, is shown and ends with the release date saying THANKSGIVING.

According to YouTube user Lance Madewell (who uploaded the 2nd teaser, "Talent Search"), he claimed to have seen this trailer in front of Muppet Treasure Island back in February of 1996. Other sources claimed it was also seen on Pixar’s first-ever film, Toy Story back in 1995. It’s currently unknown if this trailer was ever seen outside of Disney films in theaters.

On February 14th, 2020, the trailer was found and uploaded to Youtube by VHS Trailer Park. It is sourced from a tape of Buena Vista trailers labelled "Trade Show - Munich - January 1996". The tape is in the PAL format, and thus the trailer is sped up to 25 frames per second, which results in a higher pitch than the original 24fps film.
