Crazy Penguin Wars, was an action game developed by Digital Chocolate that will remind us of the classic Worms, where a group of Penguins faced each other to dominate the territory. [1] [2]

Gameplay

The similarities that this game has with the classic Worms Armaggedon are many. Our objective: kill all the penguins on the enemy side. To do this we must make use of an entire arsenal that we will have available and consider elements of the territory such as altitude, wind or the structure of the level, factors so important that on many occasions they will give us victory or make us fail. [3]

The game development system of this game is turn-based, the penguins will move around the map and use any of the weapons they have available to kill any of the enemies within their reach. We will have a little less than three minutes for each turn, and once we have made our attack, the turn will end instantly. We will have a defined amount of life, which will decrease depending on the attacks we receive or the falls we suffer during combat. If we fall into the sea, which is in the lowest area of the map, we will die instantly. [4]

The penguin that stands above the rest will win the game. Each team will be made up of four penguins, who may be Facebook friends or the computer's artificial intelligence, so no one's help will be necessary when playing. There will also be room for customization, since we can edit our penguin from scratch, from color to elements such as caps, glasses or pirate eye patches. We will also have the possibility of chatting during the game and talking with the rest of the players, making a more social game, due to its integration with Facebook.

Discontinuation of the game

The game was discontinued in October 2015, with the announced closure of its servers,

Cheating

At the time, the game was the target of a high number of hacking attacks (Cheaters) using tools such as cheat engine [5] and Fiddler through which it sought to unfairly increase statistics such as arsenal development times and the amount of virtual Premium Currency (could only be acquired with real money, or after an excessive amount of play and chance in a daily reward slot machine)[6], this in order to acquire aesthetic elements and high tier arsenal (Greater damage) generated unbalanced games and eventually leading to the closure of the servers due to their recurring closure for maintenance and the impossibility of economically maintaining it. Subsequently, in 2014 the Digital Chocolate Company, together with its intellectual properties, was sold to RockYou Games [7] who, to date, have no intention of relaunching and have hidden part of the content originally advertised on the game's official social networks.[8]

Curiously, the content and guides about how to cheat and alter flash player variables in this game is the same reason why the majority of content about the game's existence prevails online

In April 2014, Digital Chocolate's four remaining Facebook games — Army Attack, Crazy Penguin Wars, Millionaire City, and Zombie Lane — were licensed to RockYou, along with the hiring of its developers to continue work on the games [9]

Availability

Facebook Game Crazy Penguin Wars EOL Message

Only with a launch on the Facebook gaming platform, together with its dependence on the use of Adobe Flash player, making it impossible to play at present. The game can be considered partially lost

Although it is still possible to access the old Facebook games link, it will only display a static screen indicating the closure of the server and thanking the players for having participated in it.

Despite the fact that since 2015 when the official closure of the servers was announced, fans and players made requests through comments to maintain its support, both at the time and after its acquisition by Rockyou games in 2014 and the eventual discontinuation of support for the server and flash player in browsers, there are no official intentions to relaunch or port it.

Game Recreations

Currently, there are community projects that seek to recreate the original game from the few preserved online resources and the memory of former volunteer players. One of these projects has been called Crazy Penguin Wars SCRATCH edition Which is still in early development phases. [10]
