Taiwan 2013(臺灣2013) is a web/mobile game that was developed in 2013 by a group named Cyber Armed Youth(電馭武裝青年). It's designed in the style of 'Hong Kong 97'(香港97). The gameplay is the same as its inspiration, and it appears to contain satirical elements aimed at Ma Ying-jeou(馬英九), who was the President of the Republic of China (Taiwan) at the time. Initially, the game was released as a web-based version playable online, and subsequently, it was made available on the Android platform.[1]
Game Content
Based on the information shown on the game's homepage, players are tasked with controlling a character referred to as 'Mr. Jiu'(“九先生”), who is meant to confront a group of protesters. These demonstrators are depicted holding signs bearing the words 'NO' and 'Oppressed by the officials, the people rebel'(“官逼民反”). The game is set in front of the Presidential Office Building in Taipei, ROC. The game's developer has commented:
'As 2014 approaches, this game, TW2013, serves to memorialize this accursed epoch.'
Availability
Information about this game is scarce, only available on the developer's website and a blog run by a Taiwanese gaming enthusiast[2]. The web-based version offered by the developer is now defunct[3], and attempting to access the Android version via the provided Google Play link results in an error, specifically stating 'The requested URL was not found'.[4]
